Basil
Ocimum basilicum
You will receive a basil herb seedling in a little plastic cup
Soil: Fertile, moist but well-drained soil,
Position: Full sun
Basil is always a classic in the kitchen and is used worldwide as a basic culinary herb. Herb has large and sweet green leaves. The leaves may taste somewhat like anise, with a strong, pungent, often sweet smell.
* Growing Instructions: Planted all year round, remove seedlings from the plastic cup. Place in a shallow pot and fill it with rich organic soil. Or, dig a shallow hole outside in a lightly-shaded spot, allowing 25cm between plants. Pick plants over regularly and remove any developing flower heads immediately to prevent bolting (running to seed) and to encourage lots of fresh young leaves.
